Something I don't understand about the spanish preterite vs imperfect - 10 POINTS OT BEST ANSWER?

I can help you in one of those cases. If it means anything to you, I've been taking Spanish classes for 4 years at my.. highschool, but my teacher just recently went over the use of verbs such as terminar, empezar, comenzar, etc.; words that describe when an action or an event ends or begins. With words like these, you would usually use the preterite, because they began/ended at a specific moment in time, thus, the preterite tense would normally be used.
